Many Seniors in our community do not have access to basic needs such as medical care or food. Local transportation (door-through-door) within our service area: Santa Maria Valley, Lompoc Valley, and Santa Ynez Valley. A volunteer will drive a client to local medical, social, or service appointments by picking them up from where they live, escort them into the appointment location, and then return them to their home (door-through-door). For example, clients may have a doctor’s appointment, may want to meet friends for lunch, go to church, or need the services of a lawyer, tax accountant, or other services. Our Volunteer Drivers are a life-changing gift and are the heart of this organization. They create access for home-bound seniors and make it possible for them to participate in society. CPC - Butch & ShirleyCommunity Partners in Caring is looking for Volunteer Drivers that will provide 1:1 transportation for homebound seniors living in our community. The hours are flexible: volunteer two hours per month or two hours per week any time/day of the week. We also provide mileage reimbursement at a rate of .55 cents per mile. This rate is effective June 1, 2017 and ends June 30, 2020 or 30 days after notification of reduced state funding. Most of the seniors we serve are frail, but not disabled; they live alone, do not have family/friends to help, are not ADA eligible and cannot access public transportation. By volunteering with us, you’ll be helping to ensure our elderly have the support they need to live independently while maintaining dignity, respect, and quality of life.
